See and do

On the first floor, you can visit the Gallery of Honour of Dutch of Photography. It features 99 distinctive photographs chosen for their social and artistic impact.

On the second and third floors, you can visit the Open Depot and Open Ateliers. Large windows enable you to get a behind-the-scenes view of many items in our collection. You can also observe specialists cataloging and restoring old analogue photographs.

Two floors are dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The fourth floor focuses on vintage photography while the fifth floor focuses on new talent. There is a rooftop restaurant on the sixth floor. From February until July 2026, the restaurant will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After that, opening hours may change.

Even if you don’t buy a ticket, there’s much to enjoy. Visit one of the largest photobook libraries in Europe. Take analogue black and white photos in an authentic Photoautomat. Meet a friend at Koffiebar Santos. A special Santos house blend has been created in collaboration with a local coffee roaster. You can also order tea, croissants and banana bread.

Since our collection includes 6.5 million objects, it’s not possible to show all our photographs. However, there are many photographs to see in our three exhibitions.

Our analogue photographs, which are vulnerable, are stored in climate-controlled depots. The large windows in the Open Depots enable you to see several items in the collection. Every three months, 30 photographs or related items will be taken out of the climate-controlled depot and displayed for the public to enjoy.
