March 8 is International Women's Day, a day dedicated to highlighting women's rights, opportunities, and freedoms worldwide. At the Dutch Fotomuseum, we pay special attention each year to the women in our collection and in the Gallery of Honor. The work of women has remained unseen for too long. It is only in the 21st century that the proportion of female photographers has risen to nearly 50 percent of creators.
The thematic route "Who Are the Women in the Gallery of Honor?" takes you through ten images featured in the Gallery of Honour of Dutch Photography. Nine of these works were created by women. One work, made by a man, depicts a woman. Follow the route to learn about the women in the Gallery of Honor. Who are they and what motivated them? What is the relationship between the photographer and the image?
End your visit with your 99+1. That one photo missing from the Gallery of Honor that would complete your personal Gallery of Honor.
