Acquiring the Santos warehouse fulfils our dream to develop an international platform for Dutch photography.
The Nederlands Fotomuseum, National Museum of Photography, is creating a state-of-the-art space – one that matches our exceptional reputation as a great photography culture. It will be a place of discovery and offer a new way to experience the art and technique of photography, how it’s made and why it matters.
The museum is still open for business
Although the Nederlands Fotomuseum is temporarily closed, we’re open for business and ready to help. Here’s what you can do:
School teachers can still book workshops and educational programmes.
Photographers and other photo fans can review our collection and purchase photo prints.
You can purchase photo books or photoprints at our web shop. Choose from 180 prints.
Become a Friend, Fan, Ambassador or a Collectors' Council Member. Become a Partner.
Our road to Santos
The Gallery of Honour on Tour
Starting in April, the museum will take 12 masterworks from our Gallery of Honour on Tour throughout the country. At each location, one photograph takes centre stage. Visitors are invited to reflect on the image and share their own stories.

A global player in collection management
The Nederlands Fotomuseum is a global leader in collection management and the protection of photographic archives. The work of the museum, including its exhibitions and public programme, centre around its collection, which is an ever-growing record of Dutch photographic history. The museum has amassed a unique collection for more than 25 years. It is estimated the collection will reach 7.5 million photographic objects by 2028.
